Stocking Stuffers for Teen and Tween Boys
One of the fun things in my weekly Friday Q&A on Instagram is seeing multiple versions of the same question come in.
Recently, the question that kept coming up (that had literally never once been asked before!) was about stocking stuffers for teen and tween boys.
I have no tween or teen boys, but my Instagram community is full of parents that do and they generously shared a TON of ideas!
If you’re filling a stocking for a teen boy or tween boy this holiday season, I hope this list of suggestions will be helpful!

Snacks
Fun snacks are a foolproof stocking stuffer for teen and tween boys – no instructions, no clutter, just instant enjoyment. Favorites include: Pringles, cookies, candy, fun soda, beef jerky, gum, and freeze dried fruit.

Small drone
I can vouch for this one – I am getting my husband a full-sized drone, and he’s basically a kid at heart! A mini drone is perfect for a stocking: small to tuck in, but still packed with flips, stunts, and hours of pure fun.

Sport Gear
For boys who live and breathe sports, small gear makes the perfect stocking stuffer. Think surfboard wax, pads, eye black, hockey stick sharpeners, mouthguards, football tights, or even a braided sports necklace. It’s practical, fun, and totally useful on game day.

Sunglasses
I remember getting sunglasses in the $1 section at Target for my girls. Now they are a bit older, having a nicer pair (but one that wouldn’t be incredibly sad if lost) would be something they would really use and enjoy.

CD player
A fun, nostalgic gift that’s making a comeback! More and more teens and tweens are loving retro finds, and there’s just something special about choosing a CD and letting it play.

Nice Mechanical Pencil
If you have a teen boy that loves to write, this would make an excellent gift. There will always be a difference between writing with a standard pencil and a mechanical one.

Magnifying Glass
We filled my girls’ stockings with these one Christmas. They magnify up to 30x AND have LED lights.

Nerf Foam Mini Soccer Ball
Any sports enthusiast will love this nerf ball. It’s great for playing any kind of ball games indoors and won’t damage walls.

Book light
You know I’m never going to say no to this idea. This neck book light is the one I recommend to everyone cause it’s the best!

Magic Trick book
It’s always fun to be able to ooo and aww people with a few magic tricks up your sleeve. I can see any tween/teen loving this.

Wallet
We got all of our girls debit cards this year from Crew (read all about that here), so they all needed wallets. These ones have great reviews.

Hanayama puzzle
I love putting one fun toy-ish thing in everyone’s stocking and this looks like just the ticket.

Koozies
Keep their drink cool all year long with these koozies. If you want to make it a bit more personal and are okay spending more money, think about getting one with their favorite sports team or activity on it.

Tiny nerf gun
Just because they are getting a bit older, doesn’t mean they are too old for a nerf gun.

Kanoodle Game
If you have a teen who loves any kind of brain teaser puzzle this is such a great gift! The reviews are nuts and the price is really good!

Underwear
No one is going to say no to a nice pair of fresh essentials!

Shashibos
These shape changing boxes are so much fun and really addicting.

Mini bluetooth speaker
Now they can listen to their favorite podcasts or music while you shower! Or use it outdoors without worrying about it getting wet or damaged.

Water bottle
If you do decide to do a water bottle, Owalas are far superior to any other water bottle in my opinion. Sorry Stanley.
Gift Cards (restaurant, gaming, sports good store)
Give them the gift to buy exactly what they want!
Ornament of something they were into this year
I love this idea! Pulling ornaments out from years past and reminiscing would be so fun!

Charger bank
I’ve talked a lot about my love for this charging bank and I will continue to shout it from the rooftops. It charges it all and it’s so small and easy to take along when you are traveling or just out and about.

Mini Bowling Set
Bring the bowling alley right to the house! This compact bowling set is perfect for a quick game of fun, either solo or with a friend.

Cards of interest (Premier soccer card pack, football cards, baseball cards, Pokemon cards)
Slim and easy to stick into a stocking, this is a great idea for those collectors in your life.

Hand cream
I’ve heard this stuff is a miracle worker on dry, cracked hands.

Headlamp
I’m surprised at how much these get used around our house. Camping, working on something, playing night games – so many uses!

Pocket Knife
I have no experience in this department, but this one has outstanding reviews!

Sports team keychain
This is an easy way to personalize any backpack, sports bag or set of keys!

LEGO set
If he’s never grown out of loving LEGO, a mini set is a perfect stocking stuffer. I won’t lie, it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen – I’m not even a LEGO person and I wouldn’t hate to see it in my own stocking. Others mentioned putting in some mini figs!

Art Supplies: Paint, Pencils, Canvas
These kind of supplies are small enough to fit in a stocking – yet something more extravagant than your standard Crayola marker set.

Flipslide Game
Flipslide is an addictive, fast-paced puzzle – think Simon Says meets a Rubik’s Cube! Flip to reveal the color, slide to match the lights, and master the moves to beat the blocks. Play solo or with friends, but beware…it’s nearly impossible to put down!

Chapstick
There is nothing quite like winter to bring out the chapped lips. I have heard of the wonders Working Hands and Healthy Feet have done, so I am certain this chapstick also does wonders for chapped and cracked lips! And you can never have too many chapsticks for anytime of the year!

Card game
This is the game I’m gifting to our girls for Christmas so we can play in the weeks ahead of Christmas break plus all winter long. It is under $10 and has killer reviews (and when I asked about it on Instagram, I got a flood of gushy messages about how much people liked it!) I wrote an entire post about games that make perfect stocking stuffers – so if you want more ideas, definitely check it out!

Earbuds
I usually stick to stocking stuffers that don’t break the bank… but if you’re looking to splurge a little, these are my top pick! I didn’t get wireless earbuds until a few years ago, and I’m totally hooked on my Raycon Everyday earbuds. They’re a fraction of the cost of AirPods, and I actually use mine every single day – I even have two pairs!

Team Pennant Flags
Teen and tween boys really do love their sports teams! I can easily picture the grin on their face when they find a pennant in their stocking and rush to hang it in their room. They have them for NHL, NBA, and NFL teams!

Scalp Massager
They can keep this in the shower and use it when washing their hair to make sure they are really getting everything clean!

Yo-Yo
When in doubt, get a yo-yo. My in-laws gave us one several years ago and my girls love playing with it! Some of the tricks kids can do with these are mindblowing!
Magazines
A favorite magazine rolled into a stocking feels old-fashioned in the best way and gives everyone something to flip through on Christmas morning.

Kendama toy
To be completely honest, I had to look this one up, because I had no idea what it was! But I could see how this classic Japanese toy would be a total hit in stockings! Small enough to tuck inside, it would provide endless fun and the thrill of mastering tricky tricks.

Foam Airplanes
These little gliders are guaranteed to spark some serious flying fun! Compact enough for a stocking but big on excitement, they’re a total hit for kids who love to toss, glide, and race.

White Nike Crew socks
Remember when socks with sandals used to be a fashion faux paw and now all the boys wear are the slides or crocs with socks?

Rubik’s cube
For some of us (ahem, me!), this would take me 15 hours to complete – if I didn’t give up first! This is the one we have (I love that it doesn’t have stickers that will curl or peel off). There isn’t a challenge a tween boy wouldn’t want to take on!

Old Spice Body Wash (NFL themed)
I don’t make the rules here. These are incredibly popular especially among the tween boy crowd.

Warmies stuffed animal
Sure, they might claim they’re too cool for stuffed animals, but these can be warmed in the microwave, making them instantly cozy. Who could resist that?

Walkie Talkie
There are some gifts that you’ll just never go wrong with and walkie talkies are one of them.

Lottery Scratcher Tickets
For only $1, they add a spark of fun to Christmas morning as everyone scratches to see if luck might be on their side.

Extendable fork
An extendable fork is the ultimate mix of fun and useful! Compact, playful, and perfect for snacks or marshmallow roasting.

Origami Paper
A great option for creative fingers! And I can’t go without saying, these Foldology books are along this same vein and are excellent!

Camping supplies
For outdoor lovers, a little extra gear goes a long way. A headlamp, fire starter, camp spork, or tiny backpacking stove can turn the next camping trip into an adventure to remember.

Croc Charms
Crocs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Gussy them up with some personalized giblets!

Needoh Nice Cube
Analese put these in her kids stockings last year and they were a hit for everyone in the family. They are really addicting and satisfying to mess with.

Fun Shaped Sticky Notes
These cute animal sticky notes were a bestseller the moment I shared them a few years ago! Kids can’t get enough of writing, doodling, and jotting reminders, and this set is a perfect little stocking stuffer for teen and tween boys.

Gloves
When winter hits, having a warm pair of gloves makes all the difference!

Spy Pens
These invisible ink pens are SO fun – you write in the invisible ink and then the cap of the pen is a special light that reveals what’s written.

Duct Tape
Duct tape isn’t just practical, it’s fun! Whether it’s for fixing, crafting, or making goofy creations, a roll of colorful or patterned duct tape is a surprisingly awesome stocking stuffer.

Scissors
It’s one of those supplies you always seem to need, and can never find when you do! This version is bigger than the tiny ones from school, with a sharper tip that just feels more grown-up.

Cool Glue Gun
For the boy who loves to create, this gives him all the fun and control of a hot glue gun, without the worry of burning his fingertips off.

Puzzle books – Murdle Jr. /Cluedle / Murdle
These puzzle books are a huge hit with my kids! If your teen or tween loves brain teasers, they’ll keep them entertained and thinking. (Murdle Jr. was a bit too easy for my 15-year-old, so we went with the classic Murdle – choose based on your child’s skill level.)

Deodorant
Let’s be real – teen boys can get stinky! A good deodorant is a simple, practical stocking stuffer they’ll actually use. (Just like the body wash – this NFL Old Spice line is super popular right now!)

Slide Whistle
This little whistle packs a big laugh! Slide, squeak, and goof around – it’s small, fun, and perfect for a stocking surprise.

Tiny Hot Sauce
If they like a little spice, this mini hot sauce is a tiny stocking stuffer with big flavor—and maybe a few funny faces when they try it! Filling several stockings? Check out this hot sauce advent calendar – you can split it up, and each bottle comes out to just about $2.50.

Toothpaste
I am not sure how this has become a common stocking tradition for many families, but a tube of toothpaste will never go unused!

Fun socks
Sure, Nike crew socks are all the rage right now – but a fun, quirky pair of socks can be just as awesome as a stocking stuffer.

Dr Squatch Soap
Upgrade their soap game with a fancy bar, because nothing says “manly” quite like a Sasquatch and the fresh scent of the great outdoors!

Flashlight
Flashlights are one of those things you can’t really own too many of – it’s handy to have them in your car, your bedside table or desk drawer! This mini one is ultra-portable and super affordable.

Binoculars
Don’t waste your money on those dinky binoculars and instead get these high quality ones!

Hotwheels Car
It may seem simple – and it is super affordable (around $1!) – but honestly, a boy is never too old for a little toy car.

Funny Wind Up Toy
Some things never go out of style. Wind-up toys are a classic gift that’s fun at any age!

Magnetic Pickup Tool
I got this for my husband one year for Christmas and it was a fun surprise! It has a light, can reach those hard to reach places and picks up nuts, bolts, screws and other metal objects with its magnetic end!

Squeeze Butter Squishy
These squishies are a full-blown TikTok craze! Teens can’t get enough, and whether it’s cheese or butter, they’re oddly irresistible to squeeze.

Yoto Cards
Don’t discount this one! If you have a yoto, there are some really great yoto cards geared for older kids – like the entire Harry Potter series!

Page a Day Desk Calendar with theme of interest
This is truly a gift that keeps on giving! Each day reveals a new page with a fun prompt or interesting fact. From origami calendars, sports facts, this day in history, or a word of the day calendar there are calendars for all sorts of topics to match any interest.

Tiny Tool Kit
Whether they plan to be a DIYer or not, this basic tool set would come in handy for just about anyone at some point in their life. This one is also small enough to keep in a car, closet, or drawer without taking up too much space

Fire Color Changing Packets
This was another hit from the $5 gift guide. Just empty the contents of an individually wrapped package and a regular campfire becomes a magical campfire. They are so much fun!

Beanie
You can’t go wrong with a Carhartt beanie. Stylish, functional and very durable.

Bookmark
I LOVE these inexpensive sets of magnetic bookmarks (5 for under $7!) and they look way more expensive than they are. And if you’ve never used a magnetic bookmark, you’re in for a treat because they won’t fall out of your book!

Sparklers
This is straight up fun especially with New Year’s Eve right around the corner!!

Mentos Geyser Kit
Small enough for a stocking, but huge on fun! This Mentos geyser kit turns soda into a fizzy explosion. I actually think this would be super cool – just not inside my house.

Knot Tying Kit
Knot tying isn’t just for the boy scouts! You really never know when you will need a good knot – and it’s just plain fun to learn.

Balloon-powered Car
Tuck this in a stocking with a package of balloons and you will have one very occupied tween Christmas morning. This one will provide hours of racing fun!

Mad Libs
These are a classic – my in-laws gave my kids some sets of these and they can’t get enough.
Pocket Genius book about inventions
From robots to roller coasters, Pocket Genius Inventions is a fun, compact guide to gadgets, tools, and amazing discoveries.

Fidget Rings
When it comes to fidgets – the world is literally your oyster! There are so many out there to choose from. These fidget rings have been wildly popular this year!

Thinking Putty
Ani’s 5th grade teacher had this in the classroom, and she loved it! We gave it to her for her 12th birthday, and she went absolutely crazy for it. Think silly putty… but way better!

Zip Chip – Mini Frisbee
This mini frisbee is perfectly portable and thus also ideal for a stocking stuffer because it’s so tiny. Small enough to pop in your pocket, you’ll never be stuck outdoors without something to toss around!

Moon Ball
The moon ball isn’t just a regular bouncy ball, but the highest bouncy ball on earth. The reviews speak for themselves. This one will keep them thoroughly entertained Christmas morning.

Marbles
Marbles are a classic for a reason: they’re inexpensive, durable, and perfect for boys who love to fidget, collect, or make up their own games.

Whoopie Cushion
If there’s one thing teen and tween boys universally love, it’s silly antics, and a whoopie cushion delivers every single time.

Sneaker Deodorizer Balls
Puberty hits all of us during the teen years, and unfortunately lots of new smells often accompany it. These sneaker deodorizer balls are easy to throw in athletic shoes to keep those pesky smells at bay.
