The 2026 Everyday Reading Book Club List

It is one of the best days of the year – it’s the reveal for the 2026 Everyday Reading Book Club list!

2026 is the NINTH year of Everyday Reading Book Club and I love seeing new people join each year!

Nothing delights me more than messages from people saying they never would have picked up a specific book or tried an unfamiliar author or genre without Everyday Reading Book Club.

The Everyday Reading Book Club list is ALSO the single most stressful project of the year for me (indeed, up until Monday, I was sweating over the last slots trying to decide which of the MANY books on my short-list of options would take those last slots).

When it comes to the Summer Reading Guide (one of my other biggest projects of the year), it is a list of books I liked that you can pick and choose from.

But for Book Club, this is a list of books that I’m committing to reading and discussing for a full year, week after week. AND I’m asking you to read them along with me.

Not only do I want YOU to feel excited (or at least interested) by the majority of the books on the list, I also want a good variety of genres and formats, a mix of old and new titles, fiction and non-fiction.

And I’m looking for books that are reasonably readily available at your library or included on Audible or Hoopla or can be bought for a decent price.

Plus, to keep it fun for me, I like a mix of books I’ve already read and loved, plus books that I’ve been anxious to read and have had on my own TBR list for a while.

Most of all, I need books that have enough substance to talk about them for weeks in a row. There are lots of books that are very fun but that I’d struggle to have anything very meaningful to say about them.

All of which is to say that I take the weight of picking these twelve books each year VERY SERIOUSLY.

Each week on Wednesdays, we’ll be talking about that month’s book on Instagram Stories (if you’re new to Everyday Reading Book Club, I have a whole post here about how it works!).

Last year, we also added a Fable discussion group (it’s free!) which lets you interact with other readers and share your feedback on the books, chapter by chapter. I’ve loved seeing thousands of people join there and interact that way!

And if you’d like monthly updates about the upcoming books, the reading schedule and where to find copies on the cheap, plus occasional fun extras related to these books, just pop your email address in below and you won’t miss a thing!

The 2026 Everyday Reading Book Club List

JANUARY

The Briar Club by Kate Quinn
For YEARS readers have been telling me I need to read something by Kate Quinn and this is the moment! A historical mystery thriller set in a boardinghouse in 1950s Washington D.C.? I can’t wait to read this one together (also, last year I picked a novel for the first time for January in book club and that was a huge huge hit, so we’re doing it again this year!)

FEBRUARY

Reconnected

Reconnected: How 7 Screen-Free Weeks with Monks and Amish Farmers Helped Me Recover the Lost Art of Being Human by Carlos Whittaker
February is Valentine’s Day season which makes me think about relationships and truly nothing hurts my relationships more than my screen usage, so I think this will be a perfect read.

MARCH

project hail mary book

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I had this on my 2021 Summer Reading Guide, but knew I needed to revisit it! I read an ebook copy of it before it released but this time I’m going to listen to the audio which everyone raves about. In this one, Ryland Grace wakes up in a spaceship with no idea where he is, what he’s supposed to do or even what his own name is. As memories slowly start returning, he remembers that the sun was dimming and that there were only a few decades to find both the problem and a solution before life on earth became unsustainable. And he’s now in outer space on a mission alone to save all of humanity. No pressure. It’s full of humor, suspense, and science that’s (mostly) understandable to the layperson. And the movie version with Ryan Gosling is coming out in March – I’m hoping to host a viewing!

APRIL

Powerless

Powerless by Lauren Roberts
We’ve done some fun YA fantasy in the past for book club and I have literally dozens of messages and screenshots about this super popular book. Set in a kingdom where only the powerful survive, Paedyn Gray pretends to be psychic to stay alive… until she saves a prince and is thrust into the deadly Purging Trials. As forbidden feelings spark between them, they’re forced to navigate a world designed to tear them apart, risking everything for a love that should never exist.

MAY

The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why by Amanda Ripley
I read and loved Amanda Ripley’s book The Smartest Kids in the World years ago and still think about it often, so I’m really excited to read this newer book by her which has even BETTER reviews than Smartest Kids!

JUNE

Swim Team

Swim Team by Johnnie Christmas
Over the summer, I always like to choose books that I can enjoy with the whole family, and I have especially been into wanting to add more graphic novels to my list. This one is so well done – beautiful illustrations, great characters, and a fun, heartfelt story. It’s a definite winner. Bree is excited for her first day at a new middle school… until she learns the only elective still open is swim team. But how does she tell her friends—and her coach—that she doesn’t know how to swim? My girls loved this one!

JULY

shipwreck at the bottom of the world

Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World by Jennifer Armstrong
My father-in-law loves Shackleton and I’ve been meaning to read this book at his recommendation for more than a decade. And when I finally read it aloud to my girls I was blown away by how excellent it was! This is one of those true stories that just leaves you with your jaw hanging open that this actually happened. This one isn’t very long and perfect for a family or solo read.

AUGUST

No Purchase Necessary by Maria Marianayagam
This book was recommended by Sarah of Read Aloud Revival who has impeccable taste and I picked it up from teh library a few weeks ago and knew immediately it would be a perfect book club pick about a boy who gets peer-pressured into stealing a candy bar and then, when the boy who told him to do it, rejects it, he opens it to discover it is a million dollar prize winning candy bar.

SEPTEMBER

The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali
This book has come up over and over again as a favorite and I’ve been meaning to read it. Now is my moment! This one is set in 1950s Tehran (a nice companion to our January book!) about two girls who form a friendship as children.

OCTOBER

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher
I read and loved A Sorceress Comes to Call last year and I’m excited to read this earlier fairy tale book of hers which won basically every award you can imagine (bonus: it is is included on Kindle Unlimited!)

NOVEMBER

The Boys of Riverside: A Deaf Football Team and a Quest for Glory by Thomas Fuller
Every year my library does a “Best Books” event where the librarians share their favorite books of the year and this one has been earmarked for me ever since it came up at one of those events. Fall is football season and I can’t wait to dive into this one.

DECEMBER

Once upon a wardrobe

Once Upon a Wardrobe by Patti Callahan
I can’t imagine a book that screams December, Christmas, and snowy winter wonderland more. Blending fantasy and history, this novel offers a glimpse into the life of C.S. Lewis – the mind behind The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe – while also telling a beautiful story about the bond between a sister and her brother.
