What I’ll remember about Summer 2025
Summer went too fast!
I always feel like this but I’m REALLY feeling it this year – it was like I blinked and summer was over.
The girls started school again this week (I can’t believe I have a high schooler AND a middle schooler – the two big girls are going to public school part-time and the two little girls are homeschooling full-time).
Here are the things I’ll remember from Summer 2025

Outfit details here
What I’ll Remember About Summer 2024
Wearing: these sandals. I got these right at the beginning of summer and I’ve worn them non-stop with dresses and shorts, at home and camping and to the pool. I love them so much.
Hiking: Timpanogas! We did this last summer with friends and this summer we did it again with some of the older kids. That meant some practice hikes on summer nights on shorter trails and it was a delight!
Going to: the movies a lot! Cinemark (and many other theater chains!) do cheap summer movies for kids and families and I’ve meant to do it for years. This year, we went about half of the weeks of summer – tickets were $1.75 and I’d usually buy enough for everyone to bring a friend. We’d go to a theater with reclining seats, I’d buy a big bucket of popcorn for everyone to share and it felt like such a luxury for all of us!
Watching: Anne of Green Gables. My youngest girls didn’t remember watching it at all and it is one of my most beloved childhood movies. We watched it in 20-30 minute chunks over the last few weeks of summer before school started and I loved it so much. My in-laws own the DVDs so we borrowed those and pulled out our DVD player that we haven’t used in 4 years.
Planning: for my birthday trip to Colorado and our fall break trip to New England. We rarely travel in the summer since that is the time we most love being in Utah, but it has been fun to think about these upcoming fall trips and start planning lodging and activities.
Buying: these Yoto rings and tabs – we’ve been collecting Yoto cards for four years and have a pretty hefty collection at this point and these rings have been the easiest, most affordable way to manage them. I had my girls put the tabs on all the cards and organize them on rings and they loved this project.
Playing: an insane amount of pickleball. I’ve played 5-6 times a week all summer long usually for a couple of hours. You would think I’d have gotten significantly better, but I’ve only gotten a LITTLE better. Still, it’s fun to not be intimidated by most pickup games now and I generally can hold my own pretty well.
Using: this snack box CONSTANTLY. I bought this for $10 last summer and we’ve taken it on every boat trip since then – it’s perfect for filling up with fruits and veggies, fits right in the bottom of the cooler (and in our fridge at home!) and makes everyone more likely to munch their way through a bunch of nutritious snacks. One of my best purchases for summer!
Gardening: I hadn’t really done a garden since 2020 (our new house isn’t as conducive to it as our old house was) but this year I decided I wanted to make it happen and Ani and I picked out a bunch of things and got everything planted and pretty much everything has done incredibly well. We have zucchini coming out of our ears so if you have recipe recommendations, I’m all ears!
What will you remember from Summer 2025? I’d love to hear!
