The LiboFM Kids Audiobook Sale
One of my favorite sources for audiobooks (both for adults and kids!) is LibroFm.
I have a whole post about how it works and why I like it here, if you’re curious, but the short answer is that LibroFm is basically an alternative to Audible that supports independent bookstores (you can choose which bookstore you want your membership to benefit).
Right now, LibroFm has a Kids Sale going on with hundreds of audiobooks on sale for under $5 with some as low as 99 cents! I snapped up several of these sale audiobooks for my kids and I was delighted what a good selection they had (without it being completely overwhelming).
A couple of great things about LibroFm:
- The files are not locked (unlike Audible), so you can do whatever you want with them including make your own Yoto cards! (Directions on how to do that here).
- You don’t have to be a member to access sales. Audible usually locks their sales so you have to be a Premium member to have access to their sales, but LibroFm sales are open to anyone.
- You own the audiobooks forever. No membership required – once you buy the audiobook, it’s yours forever.
Here are some of my favorite books from the LibroFm Sale (and you can see all the sale titles here). These are perfect for listening to in the car during road trips or errands, or listening to before bedtime or during quiet time – they’re all under $5!

Favorite Picks from the LibroFm 99 Cent Sale

Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne & Richard Rieman – $0.99
3 hours 1 minute
The three hour collection of classic Winnie the Pooh stories is done with a full cast of characters! Seriously, this is an incredible audiobook to have on hand.

Aesop’s Fables by Aesop – $0.99
4 hours 26 minutes
I grew up with Aesop’s Fables and this 4 hour+ long audio version is a super affordable way to introduce your children to these classics. Since they will hear these fables referred to their entire life – it’s nice to have them know them well!

The Star That Always Stays by Anna Rose Johnson – $0.99
8 hours 12 minutes
I read this one aloud to my girls last year and we all loved this book with a classic feel to it. Norvia loves her Ojibwe heritage, but when her family moves to the city in 1914, her mother wants her to pretend she’s not Native, including to her new stepfather and stepbrother. And as if that isn’t enough, a world on the verge of world war gives her plenty of other things to worry about. Her new book, The Luminous Life of Lucy Landry, is also on sale for $0.99!

Mac Undercover: Mac B. Kid Spy: Book by Mac Barnett – $0.99
1 hour 19 minutes
You may know Mac Barnett as an author but before that? He was a spy for the Queen of England in this series that the publisher calls James Bond meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It’s filled with a nice dose of historical facts. Smart and funny, this is a winner series. All of the series is on sale, actually, aside from the last book!

Willa The Wisp by Jonathan Auxier – $0.99
34 minutes
If your beginning reader loves adventure, this book series is perfect. Auggie is the only one in charge of the one-of-a-kind Fabled Stables. In this installment Auggie is trying to help Willa the Wisp escape the torment of the Rook hunters on the island. (Book 2 and Book 3 are also on sale!)

The Skull by Jon Klassen – audiobook – $0.99
22 minutes
This is based on a folktale about a little girl who stumbles upon a large house inhabited by a skull. When Skull is scared of something that comes every night, the little girl is ready to help. The audio of this one isn’t too long and perfectly creepy! I loved the author’s note at the end too! Snag this one from Halloween season!

Coral Reefs: A Journey Through an Aquatic World Full of Wonder by Jason Chin – $0.99
21 minutes
Jason Chin does some pretty wonderful nonfiction picture books and in this one, a young girl finds herself transported to a world filled with coral and sea creatures. There are several other nonfiction picture books of his on sale too!

Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls – $0.99
8 hours 45 minutes
I have read Where the Red Fern Grows twice to my girls and cried my eyes out. So, I thought it would be fitting to read another book by Wilson Rawls, and in this one a boy discovers a tree full of monkeys.

Little Women & Little Men by Louisa May Alcott – $2.99
29 hours 23 minutes
I have to say this is an absolute steal for almost 30 hours of run time…AND with two fantastic classics by Louisa May Alcott!?

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger – $3.99
2 hours 12 minutes
I read this when it first came out and I was working as an elementary school librarian. I knew immediately it would be a hit with my students and I’m pretty sure it never touched the shelf again for the rest of the year! The series starts out with Dwight, a sixth-grade oddball who loves origami. And when he makes an Origami Yoda finger puppet, it suddenly starts to seem that this little paper Yoda can predict the future and give great advice. How could this be!?

Slacker by Gordon Korman – $3.99
5 hours 33 minutes
I’ve read Gordon Korman’s book, Swindle, and loved it for its adventure and wide appeal for my elementary schoolers when I was a librarian. This one is different from Swindle, but still filled with a lot of adventure. Cameron Boxer is the ultimate slacker and hates to do anything but play video games and spend time with his friends. Because of an unpleasant mishap, Cameron ends up being an accidental overachiever. (And this one by the same author is on sale for $3.99 too!)

The Candymakers by Wendy Mass – $3.99
11 hours 37 minutes
The Candymakers is just the kind of book I wish my school libraries had been full of. Funny, mysterious, and clever. Four kids trying to invent a new candy, all of them harboring secrets? This book is a winner. (Full review here)

Beauty by Robin McKinley – $3.99
7 hours 5 minutes
I’ve always loved a good fairy tale retelling and this is one of the ones I remember best from my childhood. My mom read this Beauty and the Beast retelling aloud to us and I woke up in the middle of the night to see her reading it in the hallways because she couldn’t wait to see how it would turn out! I love that this one gives you way more backstory for Beauty’s family and I really love her sisters and their sweet relationship. It has such great character development and it’s just a delight all around.

One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia – $3.99
5 hours 9 minutes
This one grabbed about a million awards the year it was published. It’s about three girls visiting their long-absent poet mother in California and getting swept up into the Black Panther movement. (Full review here)

Clementine by Sara Pennypacker – $3.99
1 hour 30 minutes
Clementine is kind, artistic, and a little bit unpredictable. Many of her third grade adventures include helping her friends, but also innocently ending up in the principals office because of a misunderstanding.

Hamster Princess: Harriet the Invincible by Ursula Vernon – $3.99
1 hour 59 minutes
This fractured fairy tale series is one of Ella’s favorites and she’s read and re-read them, reading aloud her favorite lines to me and . . . I have to admit, they are truly laugh-out-loud funny. Don’t let the title fool you – they’re great for boys and girls who love adventure and humor. (This one in the series is on sale too!)

The Nebula Secret (Explorer Academy: Book #1) by Trudi Trueit – $3.99
6 hours 15 minutes
Cruz begins training at the Explorer Academy, an elite school for explorers. But for Cruz’s future could be in jeopardy after he discovers his family had a mysterious past with the organization. And the biggest question? Who is out to get him… and why? Embedded throughout the novels are puzzles and codes for the reader to solve. Since this series is an imprint from National Geographic, there is also section at the end of each book that profiles scientists from all over the world and does a compare and contrast with the science fiction in the book and the real science. (Book 2 and Book 3 are on sale too!)

Encyclopedia Brown Finds the Clues by Donald J. Sobol – $3.99
1 hour 19 minutes
I read and re-read these books as a child and loved trying to figure out the mysteries before flipping to the back to check out the answer. Also, I just really want an encyclopedic memory. Each mystery is only a few pages long which is perfect! (This one in the series is also on sale!)

How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell – $3.99
3 hours 30 minutes
Ella listened to this whole series and loved every second of it. My sister has three boys and they are obsessed with it too. There are 13 books in the series and these stories of Vikings and dragons are fast paced and delightful.

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend – $3.99
11 hours
Morrigan Crow was born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, and thus lives a cursed life. As she awaits her fate, she is whisked away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor. She learns that to stay in the safety of Nevermoor she has to compete in four difficult trials and discover her own extraordinary talent- or have to leave the city and face her deadly fate.

The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett & Jory John – $3.99
3 hours 22 minutes
Ella and I listened to it together several years ago (all of my kids went on and listened to the rest of them one million times) and it’s hilarious about two boys trying to out-prank each other. Now, all of my girls can recite pretty much the entire book from memory because they’ve listened to it so many times.

The Vanderbeekers and the Hidden Garden (Book #2) by Karina Yan Glaser – $3.99
5 hours 31 minutes
This is the second installment of The Vanderbeekers series and in this one, the five Vanderbeeker siblings are determined to build the best most healing garden for one of their neighbors. (Other books in the series are also on sale!)

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell – $3.99
4 hours 24 minutes
I absolutely loved this book as a child and it was a delight to see Ella pick up this beloved historical fiction novel about a 12-year old girl who finds herself alone on a Pacific island after she jumps from a rescue ship and spends eighteen years fighting for survival on her own.

The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown – $4.99
4 hours 36 minutes
This is the sequel to the highly popular Wild Robot, which my girls and I listened to and LOVED! In this one, Roz is trying to figure out how to live in the civilized world, all while trying to get back to Brightbill.

Unstoppable by Tim Green – $4.99
6 hours 50 minutes
Harrison, a tough foster kid with NFL dreams, finally gets a shot at success when he’s taken in by a loving family and becomes a football star…but just as things start going right, life throws him another hard hit.

Greek Mythology: Ken Jennings’ Junior Genius Guides by Ken Jennings – $4.99
2 hours 45 minutes
Remember Ken Jennings- the guy that won four million dollars on Jeopardy? He’s the author of this non-fiction book series, starting with one about Greek Mythology. This seven book series includes fun trivia and quizzes and has great illustrations.
Let me know if you grab any of them! And if you have questions about making your own Yoto cards or Libro.FM, I’m happy to help!
